Caring Community
Caring Community
Project Hineyni, Temple Beth Am’s Caring Community initiative, is made up of members who have opened their lives to perform mitzvot (sacred obligations), the good deeds and public acts of kindness that help make us a caring and supportive community. The committee gives structure to encourage the involvement of all our members in fulfilling these obligations:
- Gemilut Hasadim - perform acts of loving kindness
- Bikkur Cholim - visit the sick
- Nihum Avelim - comfort the bereaved
- Bein Adam Le-Khavero - strengthen the connections to each other
If you have any questions, would like to get involved, or are in need of support, contact Director of Community Engagement Alexis Kort.
Rides for Members
We have a number of members who can no longer drive, but are interested in attending our worship services and programs. You do not need to commit to a particular date or event, only that you would be willing to be called upon to perform this Mitzvah. Contact Beth Am Director of Community Engagement Alexis Kort if you are interested in providing rides to our members.
Healing Challahs
At our early evening service on the fourth Friday of every month, congregants have the opportunity to deliver a challah to a fellow member who is recovering from a recent hospitalization or illness, or perhaps dealing with the early days of grief. Challot are in the foyer before Shabbat services, along with exact driving directions and a personal card to leave with the challah. Go to the calendar for this month's date.
Welcoming New Babies
Have you or someone you know had a new baby recently? Contact Alexis Kort so we can send them a challah and include them at our annual New Baby Shabbat that we have every fall.
