Jewish Generations

Young Families at Beth Am (YFBA)

Young Families at Beth Am (YFBA) is a group created to serve families with children newborn to 6 years old. Our goal is to help parents with young children connect and grow through educational, social, and cultural events, in order to create and sustain a Jewish life. We offer monthly programs for families and have annual get-togethers for just parents, too.

Temple Beth Am also has two services a month tailored for young children which are open to everyone, whether Temple Beth Am members or not: Kinder Kabbalat on the first Friday of the month at 6:00 PM and Tot Shabbat on the fourth Saturday of the month at 9:15 AM.

YFBA is based out of Temple Beth Am, but you do not need to be a member to participate in this group. Everyone is welcome! Join our email list by emailing Director of Community Engagement Alexis Kort with your name and the names and ages of others in your family.

Young Adults

Temple Beth Am is a proud partner of the Engager Network: Seattle's Coalition of Young Adult Connectors in partnership with JConnect and Seattle-area synagogues. Everyone is welcome regardless of background or observance level. We seek to create a Jewish community that is welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant. The Engager Network puts on events 4 - 6 times a year for schmoozes, holiday celebrations, Shabbat dinners, and social action projects. Past events have included Saki & Latke for Hanukkah, Shabbat Dinner Game Night, Mojitos & Midrash in the Sukkah, and BBQs at Golden Gardens.

Seniors

Seattle Jewish Seniors (SJS) is an active and social group. It was formed over 20 years ago by a vibrant group of retirees who live in the greater Seattle area but come from different regions of the United States and have had different life experiences.

We operate informally: there are no dues, we are all volunteers, and we are all leaders. Committees are ad-hoc, staffed by member / volunteers, and facilitated by alternating members. Temple Beth Am generously provides space and staff support, but membership in Temple Beth Am is not required: everyone is welcome!

Regularly-scheduled activities include:

  • Current Events with Jacob Bolotin, moderated discussions that take place generally on the last Friday of every month
  • Birthday Bashes at area restaurants
  • Schmoozes at the homes of members to welcome new arrivals to the Seattle area and enjoy good food
  • Regular visits to local museums, parks, and theater, often followed by lunch
  • Visits to area art museums are often arranged for the first Thursday of every month when admission is free for seniors
  • Sponsorship of popular lectures at Temple Beth Am
