Madrichim Application 2024-2025 / 5785

The primary role of a Madrich/Madrichah/Madricheh (non-binary) is to inspire youth to joyfully deepen relationships to Judaism and our community by engaging the soul, heart, and mind. The job of Madrichim is focused on mentorship, relationship building, guiding individual students’ Jewish learning, and group facilitation. Please fill out the following application and information form.

To provide all students with the most meaningful experience, our Madrichim program requires teens to be enrolled and participate in Midweek Classes. We will be offering a variety of classes and social activities for teens! For further questions, please contact Youth Learning & Engagement Manager Reyna Abraham.
We will primarily communicate through email in The Gan.
Madrichim Mentors must have 2+ years experience in our Madrichim Program and will work with 8th Grade Madrichim Interns helping to lead activities and model responsibilities. Mentors will share their experiences, skills, and insights to help inspire and teach their fellow teens, working with faculty to help shape student experience.
The following questions are part of our Madrichim Survey. Please choose the response that best reflects how you feel about each statement.
Hebrew proficiency in this case means being able to recognize specific Hebrew words, letter and vowel sounds, reading prayers, and/or understanding meaning.
Madrichim Job Expectations:
  1. Model Temple Beth Am's mission in The Gan: We deepen relationships to Judaism and our community by engaging the soul, heart, and mind.
  2. Behave as a role model to your students and others.
  3. Remain focused on your students and responsibilities at all times; do not use cell phones except when necessary to help a student or faculty member.
  4. Treat all students, teachers, peers, parents, staff, and community members with respect.
  5. Show up focused and present during your work hours. Madrichim are expected to arrive 15 minutes before and leave 15 minutes after the students.
  6. Communicate effectively and promptly with Faculty and The Gan Leadership Team. This includes when you have a planned tardiness or absence, a question about your role, schedule or students, and questions in response to Madrichim Newsletters.
  7. Demonstrate a commitment to your own professional growth and Jewish learning.
  8. Openly share any questions or concerns, including those that involve teachers or students.
  9. Contribute to creating a safe and positive learning environment for all.
Failure to live up to these expectations may result in a conversation with The Gan Leadership Team, adjustment of responsibilities, suspension from employment, and if necessary, termination.
