Library

Contact our part-time librarian, Toby Harris, if you have any questions

The Temple Beth Am library has a collection of over 5,000 books for children, teens, and adults. We also have a small magazine, DVD, and CD collection. All materials relate to Judaism or contain Jewish values, settings, or themes.

We strive to maintain vital, useful, and entertaining material for temple members, SEED, and staff. The check-out period is one month, and materials may be renewed by email or phone.

Wish Lists

We welcome selected new or gently used books in celebration of an occasion, in memory of a loved one, to honor someone, or for no reason at all! Our wish lists of specific titles are posted at Amazon, however, please feel free to purchase books anywhere. Used books with no markings are fine, too. To look at our three wish lists (adult books, picture books, and chapter books), visit this link. Please note that the page will open on any of the three lists. The menu on the left of the page allows you to select a different age group. If you have suggestions or trouble navigating, please email Beth Am Librarian Toby Harris.

Used Book Donations

We do appreciate the thought, but space and time limitations prevent us from accepting used book donations unless: they were published within the last five years (and we don't already have them in our catalogue) or meet the "free library" requirements below. There are exceptions to every rule, so feel free to email Beth Am Librarian Toby Harris for questions. Unwanted books can be donated to the Seattle Public Library, Juvenile Detention Center, Goodwill, homeless shelters, and sometimes local schools.

Our Little Free Library

We have one shelf of “take one / leave one” books in the Adult Fiction section! No need to check out these books. Free library donated books must be adult fiction, something Jewish about them (author, theme, setting), and in good condition.
