Madrichim

Do you like to work with kids? Do you enjoy singing, art, or photography? If the answer is "yes," then you are a perfect fit for the Madrichim Program here at Temple Beth Am!

In our Madrichim (Teaching Assistant) Program, students in 8th - 12th grade can learn all about working in a school while receiving guidance from the teachers, staff, and teen supervisors. They also participate in regular trainings throughout the year. During the 2018-2019 school year, we had 125 Madrichim, making our program not only the biggest in Seattle but also one of the largest in the United States and Canada. It is also the only program in the entire Reform movement with a built-in teen supervisory program!

Positions vary widely and include jobs such as:

  • Classroom teaching assistant
  • Photographer
  • Song leader
  • Art assistant
  • Office assistant
  • Librarian

Community service hours and training available.

8th graders are considered to be Madrichim-in-Training and receive community service hours for every session they attend. 9th - 12th graders are paid 85% of minimum wage until they are 16 years old and then earn full minimum wage.

All Madrichim are expected to regularly attend their age-appropriate Tuesday night Religious School classes.

If you have questions about joining our Madrichim program, please email Madrichim Program Coordinator David Lizzo or call at 206-525-0915 x209.
